Pollutants and Children a Public Health Concern Blog Assignment Week 2
The Public Health Topic I would like to share is on Environmental Pollutants. Environmental toxins within the environment impact water, air, paint many variables we each come into contact with. Moreover Children can be impacted because they come into a world where decisions are already made for them.
This topic is meaningful because I feel that we all deserve a fair chance towards health. When companies choose to put toxic pollutants into our living spaces, and people are not informed, I do not agree. I feel that it is important that people are given the opportunity to have the chance to have healthy environment and spaces to engage in This can be a broad topic, I have two nephews who are autistic, was there mother exposed to something in the water or work space? The blame is always placed on the mother but what about the environment this is why this topic is of grave significance to me.
Here is what is occurring in China with Environmental Pollutants World Pediatric Journal
China's rapid economic development has come at the cost of severe environmental degradation, most notably from coal combustion. Outdoor air pollution is associated with more than 300000 deaths, 20 million cases of respiratory illness, and a health cost of more than 500 billion renminbi 3% of gross domestic product annually. The young are particularly susceptible to air pollution, yet there has been only limited recognition of its effects on children's health and development.
This information is vital as a future child development professional. It is important we each understand what are the influences affecting the children we serv heatlh. If we as educators do not take the time to understand how to help make young people healthy then we each are no doing our job to protect tomorrow’s future.
